Lori Scherer

When I was growing up, we had a boxer and I remember her being a wonderful family dog. She had such patience eith us kids.

She loved to play all day long, but then would be just as happy to curl up next to us in the evening to relax. My parents owned other dogs during my childhood, but I always remembered our boxer and I always had a special place in my heart for her.

In 2007, when we were looking to add a dog to our home, we decided on a boxer pup. Ziegler came into our home and taught me more than I could have imagined about owning a dog. This was the first dog I owned that I chose to pursue training outside of the basics. We started with obedience and rally. He earned his Rally Novice title but that was not his thing -- it was too slow and boring. We next tried agaility to get ride of some of his excess energy and boy did he love it! He had no fear and always had th etime of his life. We entered our first agility trial in 2011 not knowing where it would lead other than Ziegler was having a blast. He was never the most disciplined or the fastest entry, but he sure did enjoy the game. We ended up earning his PACH (Preferred Agility Champion) title in 2017. It was such an incredible journey with such a wonderful dog.

After Ziegler passed away at 11 1/2 years old, our house was just not the same, so we decided to add another boxer. Bishop filled teh hole in our hearts and then some. As much as boxers are the same, they are all so different and wonderful. This boy has definitely led us on a different path. Agility is not his thing, though he does enjoy obedience and rally, so we are purusing those avenues. He has earned his Canine Good Citizen Certificate, Trick Dog Novice title, Rally Novice title and we are woring on skills to enter his first obedience trial. I am looking forward to all this boy will teach me, knowing that it will be another great adventure with another wonderful boxer dog!
