In 1904 the first Boxer, Arnulf Graudenz, was registered in the "American Kennel Club's Stud Book." This dog was registered as American-bred but actually was imported "in utero." His dam was Rose v. Graudenz, imported in whelp by James E. Welch of Harvey, Illinois. However, Arnulf had little influence on the breed.
